Intersport is seeking to add an organized and driven Coordinator, Communications to assist with the agency’s College Sports and Under Armour services. These efforts will focus on year-round promotion, management, execution and historical preservation of numerous events that primarily focus on college and youth basketball, football and volleyball.

The Coordinator, Communications is a full-time, permanent position. This team member will be, in conjunction with the Sr. Director, responsible for handling all communications and media relations efforts surrounding these events, including but not limited to pre-event promotion and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, credentialing, on-site event management and execution of media and relevant basketball operations functions, media availabilities/press conferences and post-event data capture and recapping responsibilities. The Coordinator, Communications will directly oversee numerous neutral-site events and work collaboratively with team members, venue operators, clients and other external leadership to bring events from creation to execution. The ideal candidate should also be comfortable engaging with media members and other stakeholders in a dynamic work environment that requires outstanding time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities
Lead media relations campaigns for assigned programs
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create broad visibility tactics for major news announcements, including but not limited to event launches, team participation, travel and/or ticket package sales, sponsorship announcements, etc.
  • Coordinate media opportunities with event spokespeople and media outlets
  • Build and maintain targeted media lists designed to maximize event awareness
  • Write various press materials, fact sheets and messaging documents

Direct all event media operations and logistics for select events
  • Work alongside a variety of internal departments to create venue operations plans, with a specific focus on the media operation and working media experience
  • Handle all event credentialing and approvals
  • Manage relationships with external vendors to produce signage and other materials
  • Communicate directly with venue personnel, including operations, IT, catering and other relevant departments to fulfill event needs
  • Recruit gameday personnel, including table crew, clock operators, stats crew and media gameday assistants
  • Collaborate with school PR and television personnel to provide essential event services
  • Facilitate all relevant event media opportunities, either pre-event or postgame availability
Create impactful media relations opportunities
  • Develop and foster meaningful relationships with local, regional and national media members
  • Identify opportunities to amplify the Under Armour Next program and the Intersport brand as leaders in their respective spaces
  • Proactively engage with media outlets and capitalize on current news and national trends that benefit Intersport and the Under Armour Next program
  • Be a habitual consumer of news and emerging trends to anticipate potential media opportunities
Manage event websites and forward facing social channels
  • Provide regular maintenance of all event websites with updated news and information
  • Collaborate with marketing team to ensure cohesive messaging throughout all aspects of public-facing web pages across all properties
  • Support website development, as needed, by providing written content, and asset aggregation
  • Create content, copy and social media plans for relevant social media channels, providing ancillary support and engagement opportunities that help amplify events
Maintain historical database across event properties
  • Spearhead effort to standardize record keeping procedures across our event portfolio
  • Provide regular upkeep of statistical records, year-by-year data capture and other relevant information for select events
  • Create detailed information guides that illustrate each event’s history and showcases premium standing of these events

Salary and Benefits
The targeted salary range for this role is: $46,900 to $50,000, depending on full-time, non-internship professional relevant experience.

This position includes medical, dental, vision, parental leave benefits and 401(k) with company match for qualified employees. This position does not include bonuses, commissions, or other incentives.



Qualifications
  • A minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience as in a sports communications setting – either at the professional, collegiate or agency setting
  • Experience could be as a full-time employee or graduate assistant capacity
  • Experience working collaboratively across multiple departments
  • Demonstrated history of cultivating media relationships and landing impactful media placements
  • Ability to travel to live events and promotional appearances multiple times per year
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills across a variety of audiences
  • Detail and process orientated
  • Ability to produce high quality work at a fast pace
  • Flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated history of handling multiple events simultaneously
